Tellus on track for ISO Compliance

Key points:

To demonstrate Tellus’ commitment to global best practice the Company has successfully completed stage 1 audit for the international recognised:

  • AS 4801:2001 Occupational health and safety management systems
  • ISO 9001:2008 Quality management systems
  • ISO 14001:2004 Environmental management systems

Businesses in the mining and environmental sectors are expected by their stakeholders (employees, customers, suppliers, shareholders) to have best practise systems in place that also comply with stringent regulatory requirements with an emphasis on health and safety compliance, corporate responsibility, quality management and environmental obligation compliance.

In line with global best practice principles, Tellus Holdings Ltd (“Tellus”) is proud to announce that through SAI Global Assurance Services Australia, Tellus has successfully completed stage one of the compliance program for obtaining certification in AS 4801, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies that have developed a globally recognised methodology allowing applicants to be reviewed and audited against world’s best practice. The points below describe why Tellus has applied for the compliance of these standards:

  • AS 4801 Occupational Health and Safety Management demonstrates
    • a commitment to high health and safety standards at the workplace and continual improvement
    • to our customers that our business is managed efficiently and responsibly and that Tellus can provide a reliable service without excessive downtime caused by work-related accidents and incidents
    • better management of Tellus’ OH&S risks, now and in the future
    • legal and regulatory compliance
  • ISO 9001 Quality management systems demonstrates:
    • A commitment to high quality standards and continual improvement
    • a harmonised methodology for building, sustaining and improving quality performances
    • A system that aims to continually improve business performance and manages business risk with the objective of increased stakeholder satisfaction and ultimately to the success of the Company.
  • ISO 14001 Environmental management systems demonstrates
    • a commitment to high environmental standards at our sites and continual improvement
    • a commitment to achieving legal and regulatory compliance to regulators and government
    • better management of Tellus’ environmental risks, now and in the future

Robert Charter, Tellus Holdings Principal Compliance Officer confirmed “Tellus is committed to high environmental, quality and health and safety standards at our sites and continual improvements and the Company is working towards the final auditing program scheduled for mid-2013”.
