Tellus expands Exploration License Portfolio

Media Release

APPROVED FOR RELEASE

Key points:

  • Tellus Holdings is pleased to announce it has been granted four new Exploration Licences (EL) covering 295km2 in central Australia, ~ 120 km south of Alice Springs (Northern Territory).
  • Tellus’s 100% owned portfolio now consists of nine granted EL’s covering 1,432km2
  • All leases cover prospective thick beds of salt and associated minerals in the Amadeus basin.
  • The sites are all close to existing key infrastructure, including transport routes for export and domestic markets.

Tellus Holdings (“Tellus”) with the addition of the new EL’s now has three prospective salt and mineral mine sites in Central Australia, the company announced today.

Managing Director of the Tellus Group, Mr Duncan van der Merwe, said “Tellus had assessed six geological basins around Australia, then short listed the Amadeus basin, then shortlisted nine locations within the Amadeus Basin.”

“After further studies and a fatal flaw analysis to eliminate unsuitable sites, Tellus identified three prospective sites within the existing and newly granted leases,” he said.

“The site selection process involves a rigid set of inclusion and exclusion criteria and site specific technical and commercial reviews. We also ensure our consultation with the public and other interested parties is in accord with international best practice,” he said.

Tellus now owns 100% of all ELs listed below and as illustrated in Figure 1 attached:

  • Five EL’s covering 1,136km2 granted – 20/10/2010 (EL 27984, EL 2794, EL 2793, EL 2792, EL 2791);
  • Four EL’s covering 295km2 granted – 10/02/2012 (EL 28900) and 3/04/2012 (EL 29019, EL 29017, EL 29018).

The newly granted tenements sites are close to key infrastructure, such as the existing Titjikala/ Alice Springs access road and the Adelaide-Darwin rail line, five to 25 kilometres away. The railway provides a rail link for the export of salt and associated minerals through Darwin’s port to the rapidly growing Asian market and through Adelaide’s railway hub to the domestic market.
