The Company

Tellus Holdings Ltd (‘Tellus’) is an innovative environmental services business focused on cleaning up Australia of its hazardous waste. We aim to do this by developing world-class geological repositories and reinvesting in our communities through a circular economy and recycling technologies. Tellus has recently opened Australia’s first commercial geological repository in remote WA and has several other geological repository and circular economy projects in the pipeline.

Based in our Sydney office, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Accountant – Finance & Systems wanting to explore their next career challenge.

About the Role

The role will be key in the continuous improvement of our financial systems, policies and procedures, whilst assisting in preparing required financial records, reporting and analysis.

The ideal candidate with a positive can-do attitude, who thrives in a dynamic, high performance team, will act as the interface between our Finance and IT teams in continuing to meet our growing business needs and provide support to our business users across the company. Some inter-state travel will be required from time to time to continue this collaboration across our national operations.

About You

We are seeking a candidate that can demonstrate the following expertise, experience and temperament:

  • Successful completion of CPA or equivalent
  • Demonstrated previous experience as Systems Accountant, including User Administrator for financial systems or similar position
  • Previous experience in managing Chart of Accounts including supplier and customer set-up
  • Previous experience in month-end and year-end close tasks including journal preparation and postings, account and bank reconciliations, lease accounting in line with AASB 16, maintaining fixed asset registers and assisting with the preparation of required financial data of for project accounting and cost centre reporting requirements
  • Previous experience with external audit preparations and liaisons with external auditors
  • Ability to design and develop Finance reports for management reporting requirements, including required workflows and processes
  • Ability to maintenance workflows in accordance with system requirements
  • Ability to provide systems support and training with the ability to troubleshoot finance related system issues
  • Experience in SAP Business By Design or SAP Business One will be an advantage

  • Mature, responsible approach and willingness to take ownership
  • Strong business acumen including a high attention to detail
  • Experience with INX systems (desirable) and being advanced in the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to satisfactory complete a pre-employment medical examination and acquire a national criminal history record check
  • Have the Right to Work in Australia
