The Company

Tellus Holdings Ltd (‘Tellus’) (‘Tellus’) is an innovative environmental services business focused on cleaning up Australia of its hazardous waste. We aim to do this by developing world-class geological repositories and reinvesting in our communities through a circular economy and recycling technologies. Tellus has recently opened Australia’s first commercial geological repository in remote WA and has several other geological repository and circular economy projects in the pipeline.

Our Operations

Our Sandy Ridge facility is the first of its kind in Australia operating as a dual Kaolin mine and waste storage facility situated 140 km north-west of Kalgoorlie. The residential site currently operates on a day shift 8:6 roster, with FIFO from Jandakot or DIDO from surrounding regional towns. The facility has an operational life of at least 25 years and operates with a small but close-knit team of between 12 and 20 Tellus staff (per swing) and between 10 and 30 contractor staff depending upon activities on site at the time.

The Opportunity

This exciting role provides for all medical, health, emergency, and security services support requirements for all personnel at our Sandy Ridge operations, including being a key member of the operation’s Emergency Response Team.

Reporting to the Facility Manager, in a back-to-back capacity, the main responsibilities include:

  • Provision of 24-hour medical, advanced first aid services and emergency response call out at the Site Facility and Camp.
  • Leader of the site Emergency Response Team.
  • Maintenance of all required medical equipment and facilities including site ambulance, fire tender and ancillary rescue equipment in preparation for emergency use.
  • Maintenance of all required medical, incident and accident reports and documentation.
  • Facilitating Fitness for Work assessments including Alcohol and Other Drug screening assessments.
  • Assisting with the operation of the site COVID-19 Response Plan as required by the Registered Manager.
  • Ensuring that the Emergency Management resources such as people, equipment, policies, procedures, and plans are always maintained and trained as per industry standards and for ready response. This includes assisting in the planning and coordination of site emergency drills and activities.
  • Conducts workplace inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and emergency response processes.
  • Assists in the identification and sourcing of resources and equipment for medical, emergency response and security services.
  • Facilitates visitor inductions and assists with other visitor entry requirements.
  • Conducts medical, emergency, health, and safety related awareness on-site training as needed and as qualified to undertake.
  • Maintains all documentation and carries out all requirements under the site Poisons Licence.
  • Assists in the implementation of health and safety programs.
  • Performs in the role of Aerodrome Reporting Officer to ensure maintenance of safe aerodrome conditions for scheduled and ad-hoc flights.
  • Assist in providing support for risk assessments, incident investigations, and other required site health and safety monitoring.

Technical Requirements

  • Demonstrated previous experience in a similar position – essential
  • Advanced First Aid Certification (HLTAID006) – essential
  • Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (RII30715) – essential
  • Certificate IV in Health Care or equivalent (HLT41120) – essential
  • Certified to collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing (HLTPAT005) – essential
  • Perform electrocardiography (ECG) (HLTCAR001) – essential
  • Current WA Drivers Licence – essential
  • Current National Police Clearance – essential
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) – desirable
  • Previous experience working in the resource industry or FIFO – desirable
  • Aerodrome Reporting Officer (AVISS00053) – desirable
  • Perform peripheral intravenous cannulation (HLTHPS009) – desirable
  • Intermediate skill level across Microsoft Office suite of programs – desirable
  • INX reporting systems experience – desirable
  • HR Drivers Licence – desirable
