The Company

Tellus Holdings Ltd (‘Tellus’) is an innovative environmental services business focused on cleaning up Australia of its hazardous waste. We aim to do this by developing world-class geological repositories and reinvesting in our communities through a circular economy and recycling technologies. Tellus has recently opened Australia’s first commercial geological repository in remote WA and has several other geological repository and circular economy projects in the pipeline.

The Opportunity

The incumbent will report the Chemical Waste Manager and will provide ideas and challenge the “status quo” whilst maintaining respect for previous business decisions and approaches and will have a passionate attitude with strong connection to the Tellus mission and business model.

Primary Responsibilities

The duties of the role will include but not be limited to the following;

  • Organisation of third-party freight services and pricing (road, rail, sea)
  • Coordination of container fleet (location, repairs maintenance, leasing)
  • Develop logistics programs, aligned to customers solutions (cost and program delivery)
  • Daily interaction with customers and suppliers on loading requirements
  • Coordinate transport activities according to Dangerous Goods regulations, radiation transport regulations and controlled waste handling best practice standards for road, rail and sea
  • Daily liaison with operations staff to obtain delivery advice, activity forecasts and critical movements
  • Support project development / program management
  • Maintain, collate and verify data to enable invoicing of clients for transport or container services

Core Job Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 10 years’ similar experience in the intermodal space (road and rail), including experience directly liaising with suppliers and customers
  • Experience dealing with bulk and packaged dangerous goods, including packaging and relevant transport standard
  • Demonstrated ability to develop supply chain solutions and strategies to enable growth
  • Demonstrated ability to implement a continual improvement philosophy, driving cost reduction without compromising safety, service and quality
  • Strong contract management skills and commercial acumen, with the ability to develop models and pricing to limit business exposure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft office skills
  • Fitness for work based (satisfactory outcome to a pre-employment medical examination)
  • Satisfactory outcome to a national criminal history record check

Desirable

  • Hazardous waste industry experience
  • Radiation transport knowledge
  • Experience negotiating positive business outcomes with suppliers and clients
  • Experience developing client centric solutions
  • Ability to evaluate and provided recommendations for best approaches based on cost, safety and delivering on customer demands
  • Logistics certificate
  • Experience using various software such as CRMs

Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted drivers’ licence
  • Dangerous Goods training certificate (highly desirable, but not essential)
  • Controlled Waste training (highly desirable, but not essential)
