Sandy Ridge construction update – March 2019

The following is a brief summary of our recent activities at our Sandy Ridge Facility.

Overview

Sandy Ridge is Australia’s first dual open-cut kaolin mine and arid near-surface geological waste repository in a 70-million-year-old kaolin clay bed which is located 240 kilometers by road west north west of Kalgoorlie. The two staged works under contract align with regulatory approvals.

Stage one enabling works

Stage one enabling works at the Sandy Ridge has commenced and is progressing as planned. Stage two (construction) will commence mid year.

Stage two construction works

Stage two construction works include the remaining engineering; procurement; construction; commissioning and performance testing of the Sandy Ridge facility site infrastructure and mining of the first open cut kaolin pit (waste cell).

Engineering, procurement and project management

Tellus’ EPC Contractor (GR Engineering Services Ltd) has now commenced engineering and procurement works.

The Project Management Consultant (Turner and Townsend) has mobilisedto Tellus’ Perth office and has commenced project management works with the owners team.

Long lead procurement -airdome

Tellus has executed a supply contract with ArizonBuilding Systems (Arizon) for its innovative, cell airdomestructure.

Manufacturing has commenced at Arizonsfacilities in the US and is progressing to plan.

This low capex, innovative infrastructure solution will improve overall safety for personnel, increases cell utilisationand productivity and improves customer service by offering all weather use for our clients throughout the year.

Long lead procurement –modular buildings

Tellus has executed a modular building supply contract with Fleetwood Australia with the manufacturing to occur in Perth.

Building a first class accommodation village

Along with good food and a family friendly roster, the accommodation units and village services have been specified by Tellus to provide best available technology that allow reliable communications between workers and families and provide a safe and comfortable living environment for our team while they are on site.

Civil works –pre-gate (off site) enabling works

Stage one enabling works also includes targeted upgrades of mostly state-owned infrastructure connecting Sandy Ridge to the national logistics network.

Tellus has signed minor capital works contracts with local civil contractors.

Great Eastern Highway/ Mt Walton road works

Stage one is complete with pavement laid, test results compliant, primer seal and permanent traffic signs installed.

Mt Walton access road maintenance

The Mt Walton access road maintenance has commenced with site setup, material and water established and temporary signs installed.
The works have commenced and are progressing to plan and will continue for the remaining duration of the project.

Mt Dimer airstrip

Tellus is committed to provide safe and easy access for our workers and other stakeholders. Some of our workers will fly in which reduces travel time from home to site and improves worker safety (fatigue management).Site surveys have been completed ahead of works commencing next month.
