  • Tellus joins Northern Territory Government trade and investment delegation to China.

Tellus Holdings Ltd (Tellus) is pleased to announce it is joining a Northern Territory (NT) Government trade and investment delegation to China this month. The delegation, led by the Minister for Mines and Energy, the Hon Willem Westra van Holthe, will attend the China Mining Congress in Tianjin, which is expected to attract more than 3500 people.

The NT Government is organising meetings between delegates and potential investors, including the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals Minerals and Chemical Importers and regional geological bureaux.

The NT delegates will then attend an Australia Minerals Exploration Investment Seminar in Beijing. Some companies, including Tellus, will attend a trade fair in Weifang, Shandong organised by the China Phosphate Fertiliser Industry Association.

Tellus Managing Director Duncan van der Merwe said the delegation was a chance for explorers like Tellus to capitalise on the good relationships built up between the Territory and China. “We are joining this delegation to develop relationships and get a better understanding of the market opportunities,” he said.

Tellus hopes to use the visit to commence offtake discussions with customers for salt and fertilisers from its Chandler salt mine project; investigate logistics and supply chain management options; and possibly attract investment, he said.

Tellus is planning an underground rock salt mine near Titjikala in Central Australia as well as a complementary storage business.

Products from the high grade multi-mineral rock salt will include industrial and edible salts and other associated minerals (used for fertilisers) that are in demand in China, Japan, Korea and Indonesia, Mr van der Merwe said.
