Tellus team expands

  • Regulatory team expands with Sophy Townsend

Tellus Holdings Ltd (Tellus) is pleased to announce the expansion of its team with the appointment of Sophy Townsend as Environment & Approvals Senior Advisor, Georgia Mellor as Chemical Engineer (Graduate) and Nathan Doab as Senior Project Engineer.

“Tellus is delighted to welcome Sophy, Georgia and Nathan to our team,” Managing Director of Tellus, Mr Duncan van der Merwe said.

“Our three new team members bring a wealth of experience and knowledge across diverse industries and locations and will be instrumental in taking our projects through the permitting phase and into operational readiness,” he said.

Sophy Townsend
Environment & Approvals Senior Advisor
Bachelor of Environmental Science (Honours)

Sophy is an experienced and versatile Environmental Scientist, Ecologist and Project Manager with more than 15 years’ experience in Federal, State and local environmental permitting and environmental impact assessment. She has worked as Senior Environmental Scientist at GHD in Sydney and as Senior Environmental Scientist and Project Manager for international environmental and engineering consulting firms including Hemmera Envirochem in Canada and VHB and TRC Solutions in the United States. Sophy has prepared regulatory approval documents for developments such as mines, energy and infrastructure projects.

Georgia Mellor
Chemical Engineer (Graduate)
Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours)

Georgia graduated from Curtin University of Technology with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours) in 2015. She has been working with the Sandy Ridge Project Leader, Michael Ingram, to support delivery of the Sandy Ridge prefeasibility study and provide background chemical knowledge. Georgia has moved to the Technical Services team, providing specialist advice and assistance across all Tellus projects.

Nathan Doab
Senior Project Engineer
Diploma Mechanical Engineering

Nathan brings to the Tellus team more than 20 years’ experience, from the design and construction of mineral sands, metals and oil and gas projects throughout Australia. Nathan has worked as Senior Project Engineer/Manager for Australian Abrasive Minerals’ (NT) mineral separation plant, Senior Project Engineer for Thiess on the (WA) Roy Hill project, Senior Project Engineer / Site Manager for Atlas Iron on the (WA) Utah Point/McPhee Creek/Wodgina projects, Senior Project Engineer for United Group Ltd on the (QLD) Aurora Ammonium Nitrate project and (WA) BP Naphtha facility expansion. Nathan’s career portfolio spans multiple sectors including steel fabrication, contractor design and construction, client representation for both design and construction and feasibility investigations in Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Africa.

The Sandy Ridge draft Environmental Scoping Document is now available for public review.
