Tellus expands Salt Sales and Marketing Team

- Mr Emery and Mr Carter are both experienced salt marketing professionals who are tasked with building the Tellus Salt brand and developing and securing Tellus salt and mineral sales.
Tellus Holdings today announced an expansion of its salt and minerals sales team to extend the company’s reach into Australian and Asian markets.
“With positive initial salt and mineral grade, volume and prefeasibility study results we felt the time was right to start developing and expanding our reach into these key markets,” Managing Director of the Tellus Group,Mr Duncan van der Merwe said.
“Mr Emery and Mr Carter bring considerable experience in building brands and channels to market as well as salt and mineral sales in Asia and Australia,” he said.
“They also have significant supply chain management expertise across packaging, freight handling, transport (trucks, trains, ports and shipping) and distribution. Together with the existing team they bring a strong
execution focused capability that can add shareholder value.”
Robert (Bob) Emery
Bob brings 40 years of experience in supply chain management and commodity marketing. He has held senior management roles and has extensive overseas experience in shipping and marketing with Wesfarmers Transport Melbourne and Conzinc Rio Tinto which included Bougainville Copper and Hamersley Iron. He has worked as CEO of Dampier Port, as General Manager Dampier Salt and for the WA Government as CEO of Albany Port from 1992-2002. He is now Managing Director Nelson Valley P/L Consultants and an elected Member of local, regional and State “Local Government” WA organisations. Educated in the UK, he has also been a Sub-Lt in the Royal Navy, Ship operating and chartering on the Baltic Exchange London. He is a Fellow of the Australian Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Chartered Shipbroker. He studied Advanced Management at the University of NSW.
Michael (Mike) Carter
Mike brings 42 years’ experience in manufacturing, importing/exporting and sales and marketing in the the chemical (salt), healthcare and mining industries. He has worked for ICI Australia, E Merck (Germany), Ajax Chemicals, Fresenius Healthcare and Penrice Soda Products in senior roles. His career covers chemical research, speciality chemicals, dialysis healthcare and basic commodity chemicals including salt and downstream derivatives. He was involved in the marketing of salt products in the domestic Australian market for Penrice prior to this business being sold in 2004. Since retiring in 2010 he has worked as a consultant to the mining and chemical industries. Mike has a Masters in Science.
